RAHILA KASHIF SATTI - THE LEGEND OF PAKISTAN TABLE TENNIS

Raheela Kashif Satti (Previously known as Raheela Anjum Satti), is playing table tennis from a very young age. She started playing at the age of 13 from Rawalpindi division, and playing at national and international level for over 28 years. 

Raheela and Naila Anjum are sisters from Danoi, Kotli Sattian in Rawalpindi district, who donned the Pakistan colour. They ruled at National table tennis horizon for a decade during the 1990s. They went to play in the Tokyo championship, Japan. Both sisters also represented Pakistan in Asian games. That was the golden era of table tennis in Pakistan.

Raheela went to the Barcelona Summer Olympics (1992) in Spain to represent Pakistan. She won the bronze medal for Pakistan at 8th SAF games, Nepal (1999) in women's single and silver medal in women's double. She is gold and silver medalist in Asian Games, National Games, Pakistan Master Cup and many other tournaments. Raheela started playing professionally at the age of 12, and became national championship, a year after in 1990. She is 3 Times National Champion, Silver Medalist SAF Games 2004, Bronze in SAF Games Sri Lanka, Silver Medalist SAF Games 2016, 4 Gold Medals in National Championship 2000, 3 Gold Medals in National Championship 2016.

Raheela Kashif, Shabnam Bilal and Maliha Khursheed participated in World Championship in March 2016 and qualified for semi finals. Later on, Raheela Kashif qualified for the quarter-finals of the women’s singles table tennis competitions of the Fourth Islamic Games in Baku, Azerbaijan in March 2017. The duo of Shabnam Bilal and Raheela Khalif - members of the Pakistan women's team who bagged silver Medal in 2016, are both over 45. They were also part of the Pakistan team that clinched silver at the 2004 edition in Islamabad.

International Table Tennis player Raheela Kashif introduced an indoor table tennis facility as Islamabad Table Tennis Training Club in Islamabad to enable the beginners with learning the sport and develop ultimate skills of game enabling them to perform at National Level.

COMMANDO ALI AKBAR SATTI (LATE) - SSG

SSG Commando Ali Akbar Satti (Late) of 2nd Commando Rahbar Battalion, one of the most decorated Junior Commissioned Officer of his time, served SSG of Pakistan Army for 28 years, who executed several covert operations inside enemy’s den. 

He was a jump-master with over 300 para jumps, who Represented Pakistan as a member of International free fall teams for 16 years.

Ali Akbar Satti was the member of the SSG team, who conducted operations on the Siachen Glacier against Indian positions at -30 temperatures on Ice covered Peaks, under the command of Brigadier TM Tiger. 

He also Participated in several counter terrorism operations. When PIA Fokker was hijacked, he was among the SSG team, who reclaimed the plane and apprehended all 3 hijackers. None of the passengers were harmed during the assault.

Ali Akbar Satti was known for his close association with Brigadier TM Tiger, a notable commander of SSG. 

Brave heart Commando Ali Akbar Satti hailed from Narrar, Kahuta, who passed away in 2013. May Allah bless his soul. Ameen.

CHIEF PETTY OFFICER LAL KHAN SATTI SHAHEED - MARTYR OF PNS GHAZI

Chief Petty Officer LAL KHAN SATTI was among the brave 93 men who gave up their lives while defending their country aboard PNS Ghazi. He hailed from Behl Chaka, Lehtrar, Rawalpindi. 

The PNS Ghazi or the “Holy Warrior” could travel up to 20 knots per hour, It had 12 sea mines stored and could store up to 14 torpedoes. Ghazi was the first submarine to be operated by a Navy in the South Asia becoming a serious threat to the Indian Navy.

The mysterious sinking of Ghazi took place on 4-5 December 1971 during its hunt to assault Vikrant and/or during the minelaying mission on the Visakhapatnam Port, Bay of Bengal. The true cause of the sinking is still unknown.

In 1972, Ghazi and her serving officers as well as crew members were honored with gallantry awards by the Government of Pakistan. At the Naval Dockyard in Karachi, a 'Ghazi Monument' was built to perpetuate the memory of the submarine and its 93 men.

In 1998, the Inter-Services Public Relations produced and released the telefilm, “Ghazi Shaheed”. Another movie, Untold Stories: Ghazi and Hangor were sponsored and released by the ISPR to commemorate Ghazi and her crew during their missions in 1971. In 2017, an Indian film was based on this submarine attack named “The Ghazi Attack”.

LT. COMMANDER (R) MUHAMMAD SARWAR SATTI

Lt Commander (R) Muhammad Sarwar Khan Satti, veteran of two wars (1965 & 1971), a hero of Operation Dwarka (PNS Badr). On the night of 7 September, the Pakistan Navy launched its assault on Western Indian shores. Dwarka was chosen for its proximity 200 km (120 mi) from Karachi Port), its lower defences and historical relevance. 

The plan called for a fleet of 7 naval vessels of Pakistan to bomb the town of Dwarka. It was aimed at luring the heavy ships anchored in Bombay into attacking the Pakistani ships to enable the submarine PNS Ghazi lurking in the Arabian Sea to engage and sink the Indian ships. Accordingly, a fleet of seven ships comprising PNS Babur, PNS Khaibar, PNS Badr, PNS Jahangir, PNS Alamgir, PNS Shah Jahan and PNS Tippu Sultan set sail for Dwarka and bombarded the town.

He hailed from Thoon, Kotli Sattian in Rawalpindi, and passed away in 2003. May Allah bless his soul. Ameen.

REMEMBERING OUR HEROES ON PAKISTAN DEFENCE DAY

The blood of hundreds of young men should become a guiding light for us Pakistanis to navigate through dark times of anguish. If these young men could offer their very best and even dear lives to serve Pakistan in time of need, so could each one of us in every walk of life.

The service and sacrifice of our soldiers are selfless; they never get to wear their decorations on their uniform. We must draw inspiration from their deeds in our daily lives.

These men in uniform were sons, brothers, husbands and fathers but, above all, they were sons of Pakistan and proudly upheld the obligation to Pakistan above and beyond their personal desires, responsibilities and relationships.

Let’s pray that the families and loved ones of these heroes find peace, happiness and prosperity in this world and the Hereafter.

We owe them this much to make sure that Pakistan for which their loved ones shed their blood prospers forever.

May Allah bless Pakistan. Long live Pakistan Army.

MAJOR ABDULLAH SATTI SHAHEED

Major Abdullah Satti Shaheed of Pakistan army embraced martyrdom on 25th March 2002 at Gultari Sector, Siachen, the highest battlefield of the world. He hailed from Durnoyan, Kotli Sattian, Rawalpindi.

WING COMMANDER (R) MATIULLAH SATTI

Wing Commander (R) Matiullah Satti was born in the village Ghanuyain in Kotli Sattian, Rawalpindi. He completed his primary education from the village school and his matriculation from the Govt High School Lehtrar. He Joined PAF college Sargodha as a flight cadet, after completing his graduation from this prestigious institution with distinction he joined PAF Academy Risalpur for his flying training.

Matiullah Satti was commissioned as a Pilot officer in GD(p) branch of the PAF in 1980. He became the first fighter pilot from Satti Tribe after creation of Pakistan and perhaps the second in the history of Satti Tribe.

He flew various fighter jets of the PAF like F-6, A-5 and Mirage to name a few. He also flew as a flying instructor in the academy and had the honour of leading the elite PAF Academy aerobatics team "The SHERDILS".

After serving PAF as a fighter pilot for about 16 years he decided to take premature retirement in 1996. He served only a year in his last rank as a wing commander. Matiullah Satti says "PAF is a great institution and I am who I am because of this elite organisation. I have great respect and love for PAF which is led and run by men of special breed."

A while after leaving PAF he joined UAE Air Force as a Civilian Flying Instructor in one of their fighter conversion unit. This unit was an integral part of Khalifa Bin Zayed Air College Al Ain.

Matiullah Satti  had the opportunity to fly with at least 10 nationalities from the world, who formed a part of instructional staff. He said "It was great learning and I enjoyed flying the Hawk-63, (the jet flown by Red Arrows) one of the best fighter trainer in the world."

He added that "after almost 15 years in Al Ain, i chose to come back to Pakistan in 2010. It was time to try my hand on the jetliners before hanging my flying boots. I flew A-320 and A-340 with Air Blue for 5 years. I left Air Blue and joined Shaheen Air International in April 2016  and am flying A-320  to date."

DEEWAN-E-SATTI - THOON

The village of Thoon is situated about 20 km eastward from the main road that lies between Rawalpindi and Kotli Sattian. It stands on steep slopes which raise from the Jhelum river upward to the top of the Narrar Peak (Panjpeer). The maximum height of the settlement is 3,953 feet above sea level. 

The Jhelum river flows at the foot and Khad Thoon joins in it. This separates the village from the other villages in the north. The village along with its many settlements are spread on slopes that face the northeast. It is surrounded by evergreen woods and presents a picturesque view.

This village is unique among Sattis, because the founding father of the Satti Tribe, Baba Satti was born in this village and this is the fundamental settlement of the tribe. Some antiquities related to the forefathers, particularly the father of the tribe still exist and call the tribesmen to come forward and preserve these legacies in reference to your history. 

DR NELOFAR RAUF SATTI

Dr Nelofar Rauf Satti is a full time faculty member at National institute of psychology, centre of excellence, Quaid -i-Azam university, Islamabad. She completed her PhD in Developmental psychology from the same institution. Her PhD research work is with families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She presented and published her research work on various national and international platforms. Currently she is teaching and supervising research projects at postgraduate level. She is an active member of World Autism Association. Dr Nelofar is the daughter of former Chief Flying Instructor Rawalpindi Flying Club, Raja Abdul Rauf Satti (Late) of Lehtrar (Pallan).

NASIR MAHMOOD SATTI - DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

Nasir Mehmood Satti is a Deputy Inspector General of Police Headquarters, Islamabad. Previously he has served in National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) under the Ministry of Communication.

Prior to join police Nasir Satti served in Pakistan Navy and retired as a Lieutenant. He earned his Masters degree in Criminology from The University of Birmingham, UK. He hails from Ghel Sattian, New Murree. 

DR SHAHID MAHMOOD SATTI

Dr Shahid Mahmood Satti is a Senior Research Engineer at OPTICOM, Erlangen Area, Germany. Prior to join Opticom he was a Senior Researcher at Vrije University Brussels, Belgium.

He completed his PhD degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from University of Brussels, Belgium and Masters in Communication System from Techniche University Munich, Germany. He obtained B.E in Electronics and Communications from UET Taxila, Pakistan.Dr Shahid Satti defended PhD thesis titled "Scalable Single and Multiple Description Scalar Quantization" with highest distinctions. He was awarded a Post-Doctoral fellowship based on my PhD work and for the continuation of my research in the area of error-resilient video coding.

Shahid is a hard-working competent individual, capable of contributing in high-quality research work in engineering. He distinguishes for his versatility, responsibility and his meticulousness. During his studies towards the Ph.D. degree, Shahid contributed into producing important publications in highly rated conference proceeding and journals. 

He was responsible for testing and verification of mobile stack software delivery to customers. His skills of handling multiple tasks and working under pressure were quite impressive. 

His specialties are HTTP adaptive video streaming, Subjective/objective video quality assessment for adaptive video, Image/video compression standards, JPEG/JPEG2000, H.264/AVC/SVC, HEVC. algorithm design, optimizations, mathematical modeling, statistics, simulations.

DR ABID MAJEED SATTI

Dr Abid Majeed Satti is a Senior Scientific Officer at NARC, Islamabad and a member of Pakistan Botanical Society. Prior to this he worked for Western Himalaya Research and Development Organisation and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council as a Scientific Officer and a Senior Scientific officer. 

Dr Satti earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from QAU, Islamabad. He published eleven research papers and attended several International Seminars and conferences.

He obtained his MPhil degree in Plant sciences from QAU, Islamabad, and BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and Horticulture from University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

Dr Abid Satti is a highly skilled research officer with great leadership qualities. His area of interest is Stress Physiology Surveillance,Virulence/Race analysis of Wheat Rust Diseases Germplasim Screening.

GC OSSAMA ZAFAR SATTI - SHAHEED

GC Ossama Zafar Satti was born on 29th May 1992. He passed his F.Sc from F.G Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi, and was enrolled in the Mechanical Program offered at the college of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering(EME), NUST. He was on a hiking expedition at Nanga Parbat Base Camp where his foot slipped and he lost his life on 27th of July, 2013. He was only 21 years old.

Ossama Zafar Satti was an avid sportsman and had a craze for adventure. He had an excellent academic record, and knowledge of world events and enthusiasm on debating them. May his soul rest in peace.

SHARENA SATTI - POET / WRITER

Sharena Satti is a poet, born on 7th of February 1984 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. She started writing at a very young age. It was her childhood that sparked the gift of poetry and it soon became her saviour and guide. It gave her a meaning to life and a new direction.

She published her first book "Testing Times" in January 2017, this book contains a variety of poems covering different topics all really relevant to today's society. And her second book "Broken Chains" was recently published in January 2018, this book will allow you to explore the mind of a poet, you will connect to her spiritually and visualise her world. She is currently working on her new book "Phoenix The Reborn". 

Sharena Satti mainly write about life experiences, they have always been her driven force when writing poetry, the more emotion the more real the poem feels. She loves seeking inspiration from nature and the outdoors, where she feels at complete home. Poetry allows herself to express her emotions without bottling them up.

She seeks inspiration from piano music, looking at the moon and stars, weather change, open nature, her children, people and human emotions. Sharena Satti is happily married and mother of three girls, who are her universe and her inspiration.

ZIAFAT SATTI - SHAHEED

Ziafat Satti - Shaheed

Ziafat Satti of Dheerkot, Kotli Sattian was among 11 soldiers of the Pakistan Army, who were martyred on Saturday (03/Feb/2018) when a terrorist blew himself up during a volleyball match near the Pakistan Army's sports unit situated at Sharifabad area of Swat's Kabal tehsil in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The soldiers were playing volleyball in the evening outside the Military base, when a suicide bomber managed to blow himself up. The match was also being watched by civilians, and the casualty count couldn't rise as a large number of people had gathered in the area, adding that wounded were shifted to a nearby Military hospital.
